Andrew Walker is the current Musical Director of Affinity.

Andy has been singing and harmonizing ever since he can remember, having grown up performing vocal duets with his brother, playing violin in school and county youth orchestras, singing in various choirs and performing in several covers bands on Bass Guitar and Vocals.

He started out singing barbershop by stepping in to help his father’s quartet, ‘Bravo Four’ during 1993 when they needed a substitute Bass at short notice for a performance, and then soon found himself performing with them on a permanent basis.

He subsequently joined the ‘Wye Valley Chorus’ in Monmouthshire and became Section Leader, Assistant Director and eventually took over as Musical Director in 2001.

He later went on to form one of South Wales’s foremost male a cappella groups, ‘Synergy’, as one of its co-directors, and even though he has relocated to the North West, still has a close association with the group and its members.

Andy has also enjoyed the privilege of being in several successful quartets. His first competitive quartet within the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) was ‘Q.E.D.’ who formed in the summer of 2004. After a little over 3 years on the contest circuit, they won the gold medal to become BABS Quartet Champions in 2007.

Further quartet success followed with‘Crossfire’, who became the 2011 BABS Quartet Champions, and he is very proud to have represented the UK in both chorus and quartet competitions at International level.

As well as dedicating his time to Affinity Show Choir, Andy also sings with the Sheffield-based ‘Hallmark of Harmony’ chorus and his latest quartet ‘The Locksmiths’, who are the 2018 BABS UK Quartet Champions.
He has also been a regular member of the faculty for the BABS Harmony College since 2007, helping to coach quartets and choruses fulfil their potential.

Andy is married to Lorna, also a Gold medal winning quartet singer, and when they are not working or involved in various singing activities (which isn’t that often!), they enjoy spending time with family and friends, quiet nights in, movies, and the occasional walk (if the weather’s good!).
